http://ontology.buffalo.edu/bfo/west.pdf Сильная и убедительная критика 15926: Не паблик домейн, надо покупать за деньги. Определение класса сложное, ряд утверждений про классы не ясен. Не используются результаты и достижения предыдущих исследователей. Необоснованно использует нечёткие множества, множества, которые могут быть элементами сами себя. Необоснованно сложные математические конструкции. Пропущенные термины, не позволяющие считать это онтологией верхнего уровня. И много других указаний на ошибки и неточности.

Печальный там вывод: We can come closer to an understanding of ISO 15926 if we consider its treatment of qualities, such as length or temperature or color; or of roles, such as the status of someone in an organisation. ISO 15926 does not recognize entities of these sorts. It deals with the color or length of an entity X, rather, by talking about X’s relationships to strings or number-representations. My suspicion is that something similar applies to all the entries in ISO 15926. If this is so, of course, then we do not have here anything which could properly be described as an ontology. Rather, we have the equivalent of a coding scheme, rather like the Standard Algebraic Notation for Chess. The latter is, to be sure (unlike ISO 15926), elegant and efficient. But it is not an ontology of chess.

Отвечу замечанием из четвертой (самой свежей) части 15926: NOTE 4 The word “ontology” is sometimes incorrectly used as a synonym of “controlled vocabulary”, “taxonomy” or “thesaurus”. An ontology may also be all of these things. An ontology is distinguished from a taxonomy by having the ability to record facts. Там приводятся определения для всех этих терминов, как раз чтобы не путаться. А организационных реалий в 15926 я, действительно, не обнаружил -- кроме тех, в которых нужно что-то "утвердить" или "подписать" или "доверить" и прочее, что нужно для supply chain.
