Posting comments
Currently there is no way to post a comment to LiveJournal without loading a web page with comment from. That was made to minimize comment spam from automated scripts. Semagic can only make posting of comments easier for those want to add html tags and perform non-English spellchecking.
When an entry with <comment= link> tag is posted from Semagic (for example, <comment=http://www.livejournal.com/users/test/12345.html?mode=reply>), an Internet Explorer window is opened and comment form is automatically filled (there might be a 2-3 second delay between the time when the page is completely loaded and the form fields are filled). This way is more convenient than manually copy/pasting data between the client and comment form. Also mood and music fields are automatically added at the bottom of comment. To enable such posting of comments and processing of <comment=> tag you should enable corresponding option in Options/Advanced, otherwise it will be posted as a normal entry. The behavior of filling of a form in IE may depend on the version of IE and Windows. It should correctly pass subject, body, picture and Don’t autoformat checkbox state. Please report if some of these fields are incorrect (for example, if line breaks are skipped etc.)
If you want to directly paste links to Semagic, you may need to disable option to create <href tags for pasted URLs in Options/View(or manually delete them).
Also you can enable another option to open all web links using internal browser window (based on IE, the same as Preview window). This way allows intercepting clicks on comment links and automatically activates client inserting comment link in it. The internal browser window can be resized and its size is saved when the window is closed (if not minimized).
